Freezer Staples

Here are a few things I always have in my freezer and what to do with them. I'll add recipes as I go along, but even without recipes you'll get some ideas on how to use these staples.

Mince Meat
  • Chilli
  • Stuffed Peppers or Tomatoes
  • Tacos
  • Taco Soup
  • Curry
  • Bobotie
Meatballs
  • Eat it as is
  • Spaghetti & Meatballs (just add marinara and spaghetti)
  • Sweet & Sour Meatballs
Marinara Sauce
  • Quick cheat's Bolognese (marinara + mince meat)
  • Pasta
  • Chicken Parmesan
  • Basil Eggplant Parmesan
  • Liven up soup & stews
  • Tomato Soup
Bolognese Sauce
  • Pasta
  • Lasagna
  • Soups & Stews
  • Risotto

I also have a few things in the freezer to make cooking days easier:
  • chopped onions (I use my food processor to dice loads at once)
  • grated carrots (food processor again with a grater attachment)
  • cooked bacon bits (great for adding to quiches, scrambled eggs, omelettes, salads, etc)
  • cooked chicken breasts
  • grated cheese
  • chopped fresh herbs in olive oil (frozen in an ice tray and transferred to a freezer bag)
  • chopped fresh chilli (ice tray method)

Finally I have a few things that don't need freezing:
  • Homemade greek yoghurt
  • Breakfast bars
  • Meusli
